Logo redesign for a city news channel on Telegram. This is a self-initiated concept, proposed independently during a community discussion about changing the channel's logo. It was not adopted by the channel's administration.
The project's objective was to rethink the visual identity of NOVAYA KLAIPEDA while retaining the brand's main symbol: a sailing ship reflecting Klaipėda's maritime character.
The original logo featured a detailed illustration of a sailing ship with carefully rendered sails, hull, and sea waves. It created a striking image, but the abundance of detail limited the logo's versatility at small sizes and across different media.
In the updated version, the ship was rendered in a clean, minimalist linear style. Simplifying the graphics made the composition cleaner while preserving its core concept and recognizable maritime symbolism:
The second key change was the typography. The name NOVAYA KLAIPEDA was given greater prominence through a large, bold typeface. The descriptor CITY NEWS CHANNEL complements the composition and defines the project's focus.
The color palette retained the combination of blue and white but became more restrained. Replacing complex lighting effects and decorative gradients with minimalist graphics creates a foundation for consistent use of the brand across digital and physical media.
The redesign marks a transition from an illustrative emblem to a more versatile graphic symbol. The new version is designed for use in editorial materials, social media, mobile interfaces, office signage, and branded merchandise.
